Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Barleywine, but Were Afraid to Ask

Hi everybody!

This entry is going to be a first for About Beverages and we are really excited about it.  After the release of our barleywine podcast, one of our regular listeners, Eric, was inspired to send us some very detailed and interesting information regarding the process of brewing barleywine.  Before I go any farther, I want to give you some background on Eric’s credentials.  Currently, he is the Senior Brewmaster at Mr. Beer.  He also is a Committee member of the Tucson Homebrew Club, a Certified BJCP beer judge and an American Brewer’s Guild Alumnus as well.  Prior to his work at Mr. Beer, he was a brewer at Nimbus Brewery here in Tucson and also at Harpoon Brewery in Boston.  At Nimbus, they still offer his first beer recipe, Eric’s Maibock, on tap.  Suffice it to say, this guy knows his beer!

When we received his e-mail giving us the details behind making barleywine, we were really excited.  This is the sort of stuff we love to read, and since you are here at our website, we are hoping that you will love it too.  The following link is to Eric’s e-mail which covers the process of making barleywine.  Enjoy!

Whole Lotta Barleywine
