Good Evening!
If you have been listening to our podcasts or visiting our blog recently, you are probably aware that we have added a ratings system to our tasting notes. For a while now we have been discussing exactly what we should do; how many numbers, what do the numbers mean, how do we let you know what the rating number is, etc, etc. Well, after much discussion, we recently came out with our first version of our ratings system, and although it was a good first step, we realized that it needs a little adjustment. By adjustment, we mean that instead of a ratings system, we have decided to change it to a “recommendation scale.” We came to the conclusion that what we really want to convey to our beverage nation is whether or not the drink was something we would recommend. We want you to know how much we liked (or disliked) the beverage that we are trying and that is really not what a “rating” is all about. We feel that a rating is a little more of detailed analysis, which we like to do as well, but is not the type of thing we want to do at this time.
With that in mind, as we move forward, we will be offering you our recommendation scale, which is as follows:
Recommendation Scale:
0=A beverage that we would not drink/make/purchase again
1=A beverage that we have some explanations or caveats about, but we would still recommend.
2=A beverage that we really enjoyed and would easily recommend
3=A without hesitation recommendation! This one blew us away! If we can, we’ll get it by the case.
Half numbers indicate that one of us enjoyed the beverage a little more than the other.
As always, please let us know what you think of this RS (Recommendation Scale). We want it to work not only for us, but for you as well. We will continue to refine everything we do and we welcome your feedback. Thanks again for visiting the blog and for participating here at aboutbeverages.com!
