Give It A Shot – Lagavulin Distiller’s Edition 2023

Happy Holidays to one and all! We hope that your season has gone well so far and that you have something fun planned to ring in the New Year! We will be ringing in 2024 by carrying on one of our favorite traditions at About Beverages. Believe it or not it is time once again for our Annual Viewer Appreciation Show, our 6th annual edition to be exact. Once a year, thanks to the loyal and generous support we receive from all of our subscribers and followers, we purchase an extra special bottle of something to try for a podcast. Our budget is more than what we would normally spend on something for ourselves as we use some of the money we receive from our subscribers to help subsidize the purchase. It gives us a chance to get together outside of the tasting room and go shopping! After we make our choice we record the podcast offline and then watch it along with you live during one of our livestream sessions on Twitch. That viewing will be happening tonight and we hope you will join us! 

We had a few things in mind when we set out on our journey but we quickly narrowed it down to the lucky bottle. This year’s category choice ties back to what we chose for our first (and second and third) Appreciation Show as we decided on a Scotch. This year the award of being the beverage chosen for our sixth Annual Viewer Appreciation Show goes to Lagavulin Distiller’s Edition 2023 Scotch. The Lagavulin Distillery is located in Islay and their scotch is known for their intense flavors featuring peat, smoke, and sea spray. The 16 year has been a favorite of ours for years and is the base for the Distiller’s Edition. This whisky is matured first in Refill American and European Oak casks with the second maturation finish in Pedro Ximenez-seasoned re-charred American Oak with heavily re-charred new AO ends.
