Give It A Shot – W L Weller Special Reserve Bourbon
For several years we have been big fans of bourbon with our devotion growing stronger with each delicious sip. It comes as no surprise to us that we are not alone. Bourbons such as Pappy Van Winkle have developed almost mythical reputations and have become harder and harder to find. The bottles that are available are now found mostly on the secondary market and their prices are usually four to ten times the original retail. We continue to seek out these revered bourbons and are ever hopeful that we will be one of the lucky ones to find them at their normal retail price. A few months back Andrew received a tip on a location to check for hard to find bourbons and he has made stopping at this place a part of his routine. During one of these visits he found himself at the right place at the right time and that “find” is what we will be trying on this episode. We will be trying the WL Weller Special Reserve Wheated Bourbon. This bourbon definitely falls into the “hard to find” category so the fact that Andrew was able to find this in a 1.75L bottle makes it even cooler! Bottles at 90 proof, this bourbon substitutes wheat for rye grain. What did we think? What do you think?
