As we move further into the first month of this brand new decade, we hope all of you are enjoying a calmer pace after the holiday season. Because of the hectic nature of the last few months, we had to slow things down a bit, but we are close to getting things back to normal. As you may recall, we started the year off right by trying a delicious 21 year old single malt scotch, the Balvenie 21 year aged in Portwood. As far as beverages go, it is going to be difficult to top that experience, so we have decided to move away from spirits and try a wine for this episode. There are many grape varietals in the world, yet most of the attention goes to the same 5-10 types. For this episode we will be trying a grape that is most often used in blends or to round out the profile of some reds that might be in need of a little extra something. The beverage we are trying this week is the Trader Joe’s Reserve Cabernet Franc from Napa Valley. We do not usually get many of these at the store, so naturally it piqued our curiosity. This grape is originally from Bordeaux, and is primarily used in blending, and in the US and Canada it is sometimes used for making ice wines. What did we think? What do you think?
