It has been said, probably only by us, that once you have done the same thing two years in a row, a tradition is born. The actual definition of the word “tradition” refers to activities going on longer than two years, but they all had to have their modest beginnings, which is where our tradition stands right now. Last year, thanks to the dedication and generosity of our subscribers, followers, and all who have spent any time with us, we were able to enjoy the Duncan Taylor Dimensions Highland Park 19 Year scotch. It’s retail price was beyond our normal budget, but thanks to your generosity we were able to try it and it was amazing! If you don’t remember how we felt about it, please go back into the archives at aboutbeverages.com and give it a watch. This year, thanks again to all of you, we were once again fortunate enough to be able to make another purchase which was beyond our normal budget. As with last year, we made sure to try it for the first time on our podcast so that we could share our first impressions with you. If you joined us live for our most recent stream, you got to see a preview of this episode as we watched it along with our live audience, but if you weren’t there for that showing, we have it here for you now. This year the decision was narrowed down to a final 2; one bourbon, the other scotch. (Cue the drumroll) The award of being the second beverage chosen for our Annual Traditional Viewer Appreciation Show (or ATVAS) is the Balvenie Portwood 21 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky. The creative folks at Balvenie have taken their 21 year old scotch aged in American oak and aged it even further in port pipes (barrels that are a little taller and thinner) that have been used for over 40 years. As with last year, we were assisted in this decision by our Spirit Guide, Scott at Total Wine, who was once again most generous with his time and expertise. What did we think? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below or join us live on Thursday nights to give us your feedback while we are live streaming on Twitch.
