Give It A Shot – Lagavulin Distiller’s Edition 2023
We will be ringing in 2024 by carrying on one of our favorite traditions at About Beverages.
Give It A Shot – Trader Joe’s Gran Reserva Maule Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
A bottle of wine is almost always an appropriate gift to bring and one varietal we enjoy year round is Cabernet Sauvignon.

Give It A Shot – Tears of Llorona Extra Anejo Tequila Aged in Scotch, Sherry and Brandy Barrels

As Eddie Murphy once said in the movie Trading Places, “Merry New Year!” If you prefer the more traditional greeting than we wish you a “Happy New Year,” even though it is a few days late. We hope you had a great holiday season and that your 2022 is off to a wonderful start. We are going to kick off the New Year with something that has become a tradition at About Beverages as we will be bringing you our fourth Annual Traditional Viewer Appreciation Show or ATVAS, for short. Once a year, thanks to the loyal and generous support we receive from all of our subscribers and followers, we purchase an extra special bottle to try for a podcast. Our budget is more than what we would normally spend on something for ourselves as we use some of the money we receive from our subscribers to help subsidize the purchase. It gives us a chance to get together outside of the tasting room and go shopping! After we make our choice we record the podcast offline and then watch it along with you live during one of our livestream sessions on Twitch. This year we realized that quite by chance our first three selections had all been scotch. While there were some scotch options on the short list of finalists, we decided to go in a vastly different geographical direction for this year's choice, although there is still a connection to Scotland. This year, the award of being the beverage chosen for our fourth Annual Traditional Viewer Appreciation Show goes to the Tears of Llorona Extra Anejo Tequila. This tequila starts with 100% pure Weber Agave Azul grown in the volcanic slopes of the Mexican Highland and is aged in Scotch, Sherry Oak and Brandy barrels for five years. There is a great story behind the naming of this tequila and we have links below for you to learn all about both that and the process behind making this limited offering. What did we think? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below or join us live on Thursday nights to give us your feedback while we are live streaming on Twitch. If you have any ideas for future episodes of "Give It A Shot" or just have a question, you can always send us an email to AboutBeverages@gmail.com.
