Give It A Shot – Superstition Meadery Aphrodisia
In the last few years Mead has become one of our new favorite beverage categories. Our foray into Mead began with trying two from Artivem Mead Company located in Bellingham, Washington. Since then we have also tried some offerings from Superstition Meadery located right here in Arizona. Both companies definitely got our attention as everything we have tried so far has struck the perfect balance of flavor, aroma, body, and all around deliciousness. They are so easy to drink that it is easy to forget that they are usually upwards of 12% ABV. It’s no wonder then that we are always happy when we get to try more mead! For this week’s show we will be trying the Aphrodisia Batch 23 from Superstition Meadery. This mead was crafted with California Cabernet grapes, Arizona wildflower honey and aged in American oak barrels. Since Andrew has had this bottle for a while, this exact version is no longer available on their website. Fortunately they do have the most current version which is made with California Syrah grapes.
