Give It A Shot – Stone Brewing Viking Space Probe Double IPA

Every year there are more new craft breweries joining an already crowded field. We do not see this is a bad thing; far from it. There are a few downsides to this situation, however. At times, all of the beer choices now available can be overwhelming. This situation is easily navigable with the help of a knowledgeable website, one perhaps created by a pair of brothers in 2009 that goes by the name of About Beverages. Another unfortunate side effect we are seeing is that while we are gaining more breweries, we are also losing some. The rate of growth seen in the craft beer industry over the last several years was eventually going to slow down and we are now seeing that begin to happen, leading to the closure of some breweries while putting the brakes on the expansion plans of others. We do what we can to discover as many of the newer breweries as possible, but we are also glad to be able to come back to our long time favorites. They all have their flagship beers for which they are known, but most of them continue to challenge themselves, pushing the boundaries and boldly going where no brewery has gone before. That might be overdoing it somewhat, but we hope you get the point. In this episode we will be trying a new beer from a brewery that has long been one of our favorites. The featured beverage for this podcast is the Viking Space Probe Double IPA from Stone Brewing. This one comes from the team at Stone Brewing-Napa and features Ella and Citra hops. The can features some great colors, is brewed in the spirit of exploration, and (Spoiler Alert) Keith has already bought another six pack. What did we think? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below or join us live on Thursday nights to give us your feedback while we are live streaming on Twitch.
