Part two of our Pumpkin Beer Fest 2014 is doubling down on two things: We have two beers from the same brewery and have gone bigger with our style as both are imperial. At the tasting table today we have the Pumking Imperial Pumpkin Ale and the Warlock Imperial Pumpkin Stout from Southern Tier Brewing. They are both seasonal (obviously), but are separated into two different categories on their website. The Pumking is part of their seasonal Imperial Series and the Warlock is part of their Blackwater Series. Both have raised the alcohol to a nice 8.6% ABV and use pumpkin during part of the brewing process. This may seem like a nit picky thing to some, but the use of pumpkin when done properly will add to the overall flavor, mouthfeel and harmony of all the other flavors. Time to carve open another couple bottles and see if either have a chance of becoming the champion for this year.
