We have not even made an attempt to keep secret our enjoyment of Modern Times Beer and our longing for them to start distributing to Arizona. Founded just over a year ago by Jacob McKean a long-time homebrewer and former Stone Brewing Co. employee. Most of their lineup and limited releases to this point have been heavily weighted toward beers involving copious amounts of hops, hops and more hops. Today at the tasting table we have one of their year round releases that diverges a bit from that formula. The Black House Coffee Stout uses two types of coffee (Ethiopian and Sumatra) roasted in house as part of the recipe. This also pushes forward our website’s continued search for great beer found in a can. Time to taste and see if this lives up to our already highly caffeinated expectations.
