Give It A Shot – Mikkeller and Anchorage Brewing Invasion Farmhouse IPA

Continuing the trend you see a lot of in the craft beer industry, the Danish Brewery Mikkeller and Anchorage Brewing did a collaboration of sorts here in the US. The Invasion Farmhouse IPA is not just any old IPA. Sure it has the usual hop quotient you would expect from a brewery like Mikkeller, but with the addition of some barrel aged funk from Anchorage. That funk comes from just what you'd expect when someone mentions farmhouse; Brettanomyces. Just what kind of flavor will we get from the Brett is anybodies guess. If it's a shorter aging period we could get more of the passion fruit and citrus. If they let this sit awhile we could get some downright funky barnyard. One quick note before you even ask, yes funky barnyard would be a good name for a band involving a fiddle and a banjo. Time to taste and see if this collaboration is just the right balance of both styles. If you have any ideas for future episodes of "Give It A Shot" or just have a question, you can always send us an email to AboutBeverages@q.com.
