Give It A Shot – Metallica Blackened Whiskey Batch 88
We believe the saying goes, “patience is a virtue.” If this is true, and why wouldn’t it be, then Andrew is truly one of the most virtuous people you will ever come across. In this episode we will finally be trying a beverage who’s journey to the tasting table was literally months in the making. We will go over the story of how we came to taste it in more detail during the show, but there were several challenges along the way. First, Andrew had to locate a place selling it that would ship it to us. Then, we had to wait to receive the batch that we were actually looking for. Then Keith had hip surgery which delayed us a few weeks. Since Andrew was determined not to have any until we could podcast on it together, he has patiently waited all this time with the bottle just sitting there, lonely and unopened in his kitchen. Finally, at long last the time has come and we are happy to bring you this episode where we try Blackened, a collaborative whiskey made by Dave Pickerell and Metallica. It is a blended whiskey consisting mostly of bourbon and part of the time it spent in the barrel it was exposed to music from the band. Each batch was influenced by a different playlist and those playlists were selected by members of the band. The batch we are trying is number 88 and the playlist was curated by Kirk Hammett.
