Give It A Shot – Lexington Brewing Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale & Prairie Artisan Ales Pumpkin Pie Treat Sour Ale!
With the onset of September (and in some cases even August) your local beer shop starts to see the addition of pumpkin and Oktoberfest style beers. Overall these are not our favorite style beers but we do appreciate them for a couple of reasons. One is that they provide us with readily available options that are different from the styles we tend to gravitate toward throughout the year. The second reason is that it gives Andrew a chance to provide beverage related torture to Keith by having him drink pumpkin beer. We have had a lot of fun with these podcasts over the years and the rumors of Keith’s pumpkin beer disdain are greatly exaggerated. We don’t have the same format that we used to when we would crown a yearly favorite pumpkin beer but we still like to keep the tradition going and make pumpkin beers a part of the fall season. With this in mind, for this week’s show you get a two-for-one as we will be trying the Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co. Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale and the Prairie Artisan Ales Pumpkin Pie Treat. The first one is a barrel-aged ale brewed with Kentucky pumpkin and comes in at 10% ABV. The second is a sour with pumpkin pie spice and marshmallow flavor. What did we think? What do you think?
