Private labeling is a concept that has been around for a very long time. Private label products are those manufactured by one company for sale under another company’s brand. This is done in a wide variety of industries including food and beverages. Trader Joe’s is well known for doing this and it is always fun to speculate as to what company might be making a particular product. Private labeling allows for a company to have control over the ingredients in the product and usually allows for them to offer the items at a very good price. Costco is another company that has many private label products under their Kirkland Label. Recently we were told by many sources that there is a bourbon under the Kirkland label that we should try. The maker of this particular bourbon was not cloaked in secrecy, however, as the distillery that produced it is featured prominently on the label. This week we will be trying the Kirkland Bottled in Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey from Barton 1792 Distilleries. As we have mentioned before, whiskey that is bottled in bond must adhere to a strict set of guidelines. This is a one liter bottle for $25 that we can’t wait to try! What did we think?
