Give It A Shot – Glen Elgin 12 Year Speyside Single Malt Scotch

Nothing says the colder days and shorter nights of winter like a whiskey or whisky. It's a wonderful option year round to be sure, but sometimes certain times of year make it all the more delicious. At the tasting table today we have the Glen Elgin 12yr Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky. The distillery was built by Charles Doig in 1898 and was the last until 1958 when Tormore was constructed. Depending on the region of Scotland you can expect certain characteristics: lowlands tend to be lighter, the islands of Islay and Skye feature more peat and seaspray and the highlands tend to be more herbal and smooth. For the Speyside we are sampling today we are looking for more classic honey and fruit notes to go with the peat. Time to taste and see if this Scotch brings all the flavors of this region to the party. If you have any ideas for future episodes of "Give It A Shot" or just have a question, you can always send us an email to AboutBeverages@q.com.
