Give It A Shot – Boulder Beer Company Hoopla Pale Ale
For some reason when we choose to talk about some of our favorite breweries, Boulder Beer never seems to get mentioned. That needs to change. From the Mojo IPA and it’s big brother the Mojo Risin’ Double IPA to the Hazed and Infused and Honey of a Saison, we always come away with a smile on our face and a happy palate when having one of their beers. It’s with great anticipation at the tasting table today that we have the Hoopla Pale Ale Seasonal. This beer is a collaboration of sorts not between two breweries, but between the brewmasters at Boulder Beer and Kyle Hollingsworth. Kyle is not only an avid homebrewer, but also a keyboardist for The String Cheese Incident. Their goal was to create a beer perfect for festivals. To do so they called upon a trio of hops (Centennial, Glacier, Nugget) to add their voice to this 5.7% ABV pale ale. Like all great trios, eventually one will stand out as the star. So just like Diana Ross, Glacier was chosen as the one to be used for dry hopping and be the headliner of the show. Time to taste and find out if this beer is truly in harmony or is about to get broken up by stardom.
