As the weather begins to creep towards the triple digits here in the Old Pueblo, we begin looking for the latest summer seasonals. The Bell’s Brewery Oarsman Ale is their take on a classic Berliner Weissbier. While this may be a year round offering, to us it seems very seasonally appropriate given the blend of more citrusy style hops and light tartness that comes with the style. Another factor that comes in to play is the 4% ABV which adds a sessionability. Although we could care less if it’s 2% or 10% if the flavor doesn’t find it’s way to the party. Time to hit the tasting table and find out if the Oarsman finds its way to the shores of good taste or gets lost in a sea of mediocrity.
