It’s our last week in San Francisco and once again we have another beverage from Almanac Beer Company. We decided that there was no better way to close things out than with a berry bang! A strawberry bang to be exact. (giggity) We will pause as you either finish chuckling or shaking your head at the absurdity of those last two sentences. Ok, moving on. Today at the tasting table we have the Dogpatch Strawberry. This is once again part of their Farm to Barrel Series that uses their “Dogpatch” blend of wild Belgian and American yeasts, including a San Francisco sourdough starter. Aging in used wine barrels is also part of the process. Where do the strawberries comes in? Almanac uses berries from Swanton Berry Farm which is nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains. For their money they are the sweetest in all of California and perfect for adding to the beer before aging begins. Time to taste and see if we saved the best for last.
