Back in May, Keith’s son graduated from college. To celebrate that awesome accomplishment his family took a vacation to Europe. Since none of them had ever been there before, they wanted to visit as many countries as possible and they wound up visiting six in 16 days. If you watch our live show on Twitch.tv/aboutbeverages you have heard a lot of discussion about the trip so we won’t cover any more of that here, but one of the more memorable days was spent on a biking wine tour in Austria’s Wachau Valley. Mostly white wines are produced in this area, with the majority of those being from the Gruner Veltliner grape. This week’s episode features a wine from one of the wineries they visited on their tour. For this show we will be trying the Domäne Wachau Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Terrassen. We have been wanting to try a Gruner Veltliner on the show for a while now and fortunately we were able to find one from this winery at our local Total Wine. The Terrassen line of wines features grapes from primary rock sites too tiny to make a single vineyard wine. What did we think? What do you think?
