Once a year, thanks to the loyal and generous support we receive from all of our subscribers and followers, we purchase an extra special bottle of something to try for a podcast.
We always enjoy trying new wines and for many years we have talked about wanting to compare different price tiers of the same grape varietal from the same winery.
Throughout the years they have had numerous wine varietals and blends with the word “Reserve” in the title (Petit, Grand, Platinum,) and some that are just Reserve. These have ranged in price from $6.99 (Petit Reserve) up to $14.99 (Platinum Reserve).
Our thought was to try a few at different price points and compare them side by side. For one reason or another it was never quite the right time, until now.
For this week’s show we will be trying the Aphrodisia Batch 23 from Superstition Meadery. This mead was crafted with California Cabernet grapes, Arizona wildflower honey and aged in American oak barrels.
Recently on a show we were discussing how it would be a good time to have a stout from Tombstone and as if by magic one appeared at our local bottle shop.
