Gose (pronounced goes-uh) is a long forgotten style first brewed in Germany in the early 18th century. It became so popular in Leipzig that at one point it was considered to be the local style. Fast forward to the late 1960s and this once very popular style had all but been forgotten. That’s where Samuel Adams comes in. As part of their Limited Release Series they have decided to resurrect this style that at some points in history was not being produced and had been lost. Simply called Verloren, which is German for “lost”, this brew looks to hit all the right notes of this classic style. To achieve this they use a base of malted and unmalted wheat, kosher salt, lactic acid and coriander. Well, enough of a history lesson. Time to taste.
