Give It A Shot – New Belgium Hoppy Bock Lager
What the Helles have we brought to the tasting table today? A Helles Bock or Maibock of course! This is the first of four beers in a new series from New Belgium Brewing called Hop Kitchen. The beer being poured today is called Hoppy Bock Lager and is made with rye (always a favorite) and a blend of three hops: Hallertauer, Perle and Fuggle. This blend of European hops should help to add an earthy, spiciness to this German-style lager. This appears to be the only one of the bunch that is not going to be an IPA as the others will be a French Aramis IPA, a Fresh Hop IPA and a Rewind IPA.
