One of the great things about trying so many different beverages not only for our site, but also for our own enjoyment, is that you build up a “sensory database” if you will. You begin to pinpoint more precisely what exactly you are experiencing with each beverage. Case in point is the tea we have for you today. Lapsang Souchong is a tea that has been smoked over pine needles giving it a very savory and smoky aroma to be sure. That very aroma was something reminiscent of some notes found in the Laphroaig Triple Wood Scotch we had at the end of last week. It was right after that recording we decided to bring this tea to the tasting table to not only enjoy for its surprising complexity, but to confirm the similarities to the scotch. Time now to get the kettle boiling and settle in for a very hearty cup of tea.
