Want us to try more sour beers? Hopefully you answered a resounding yes because that is what we have on the show today. The Grand Cru from Brouwerij Strubbe is a Flemish red ale. Also know as a Flanders red, this style of sour shares some things in common with traditional English porters, but of course was started in Belgium. The tart taste found within is derived from special yeast strains. If that didn’t already add enough character, these beers are then aged from one to five years in oak. The sour we are tasting on the show today is a five year aged beer blended with a younger beer to ensure a smoother finish.
